The Start of Vacation

I'm not sure who's going to miss who more...

We're out of town this week on our annual trip to Ocean Isle Beach with the Suskay family. We've been looking forward to this for a long time and especially since Hilton Head where Patrick first discovered the beach. It'll be great to see him on it now that he can get around so much faster.

We're staying tonight with Patrick's Aunt Abbie in Augusta at her new place. We went to the pool a little earlier and Patrick loved it. They have a shallow end that's about twelve inches of water that they put lawn chairs and umbrellas in so you can relax in the pool. Patrick thought it was hysterical to sit in a chair in the water.

We'll try to update the blog once during the week with a couple pictures or a video. If not, we'll be sure to when we get back. I'm sure there will be no lack of photographs and movies after a whole week.

Birthday Party

Birthday sign by Angie and Meme

Patrick had his first Birthday Party this last Sunday with a bunch of our family and friends at our house. What a great time. We had so much fun with everyone there. And getting to watch Patrick so excited and happy to see everybody and, of course, open presents and eat cake was the best.

Here are a few pictures from the weekend...

Aunt Abbie and Angie decorating the cakes

Toby and Matt grilling the brats

The big puppy cake for everyone and Patrick's "smash cake" bone

Not yet!

Enjoying the cake!

Opening gifts/getting spoiled

And here's a slide show with the rest of the pictures. As always, if you'd rather just browse all the pictures or order prints, you can see them all right here.

And a HUGE 'Thank You' to everybody that helped with making food, bringing food, helping us rearrange our house and watching Patrick while we got things ready. We say it all the time but we really are so blessed to have family that loves Patrick as much as we do. And thank you to everybody that was able to make it to the party and make his first birthday such a fun one!

One Year Old!

It was about this time last year that a big storm came through Georgia and knocked out the power to our house for several hours. It was Angie's first day of not working, officially starting her maternity leave at the doctor's recommendation. She had gone swimming and walked around the mall for the day so when our power went out in the middle of the movie we were watching, we decided to just lay down in bed so she could rest. Before my head even hit the pillow, Angie's water had broken and started the series of events that would lead to Patrick being born the next evening at 6:47. We both sat up and tried to remember "what now?" We had things pretty well planned for getting to the hospital but the power being out wasn't really part of that plan. We searched for flashlights, tried to figure out how to get the garage door open and started calling family members to give them the heads up.

After 20+ hours of labor, our little boy, Patrick Joseph Flowers arrived to a very excited and proud set of parents and a very large family in the waiting room. And since that moment, we've been thanking God every day for the beautiful, loving gift that Patrick is to us.

I promised Angie I wouldn't write too much on this post (like I usually do) since there's a video to go along. The video below is a complilation of ones we've taken over the last year. We went back and forth between two songs but decided to use both in the end. It IS an entire year to wrap up, so I guess two song's worth of time isn't that outrageous. It's roughly split up that the first song is the first 6 months of Patrick's life and the second song is the other half. The best part of making it was that I got to go back through all our home videos from the last year to choose which ones to include. It was so cool getting to re-live all our favorite memories and tons I had already forgotten about.

We hope you enjoy it...

Playdate at the Playground

Patrick and Nora had fun at the playground yesterday. It's so nice to have both Megan and Nora in Georgia for a full month!
